Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is it?
Fish Vision is a patent pending high tech liquid paint that reflects in ultraviolet light (also known as UV). Fish Vision is designed to glow in UV 200X brighter than a glow paint and NEVER need to be recharged or to be light treated!

How do I apply Fish Vision(tm) to my lures and jigs?
Fish Vision UV paint is a liquid you can apply with a brush, spray it on or even dip your lure or jig.

What is UV light?
Ultraviolet (UV) light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light, but longer than x-rays, in the range 10 nm to 400 nm, and energies from 3 eV to 124 eV. It is so named because the spectrum consists of electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than those that humans identify as the color violet.

UV light is found in sunlight and is emitted by electric arcs and specialized lights such as black lights. As an ionizing radiation it can cause chemical reactions, and causes many substances to glow or fluoresce. (glowing is showing UV absorption or reaction NOT UV reflection!) Most people are aware of the effects of UV through the painful condition of sunburn, but the UV spectrum has many other effects, both beneficial and damaging, on human health.

*Nanometer - a unit of length in the metric system, equal to one billionth of a meter, which is the current SI base unit of length. It can be written in scientific notations as 1×10-9 m (engineering notation) or 1 E-9 m (exponential notation), both meaning 1/1,000,000,000 meters

Can I use a black light to check my existing lures?
NO! you may read on other websites that a black light will show you if your lures or jigs are UV reflective, this is NOT correct. The glow you see with a black light is the paint absorbing UV rays. This is caused by a chemical reaction. True UV reflection can only be seen with specialized cameras and filters. Some black lights do emit UV rays but the human eye can not see them!

How come your competitors website shows color pictures and your is black and white?
Fish Vision is the original UV lure and jig paint, our competitors are trying to fool consumers with using a uv blast of color or a black light to give their product color. The truth is UV can only be seen with specialized cameras and filters and they only give a black and white image. Don't be fooled by fancy websites or color images, Fish Vision is the TRUE patent pending UV paint.

Why do I want my jigs and lures to GLOW in the UV?
Scientist have been doing research for years on how fish see. Research has shown that most fish have a fourth cone in their eye that allows them to see in the UV spectrum that humans can not and that the scales of many prey fish reflect UV light. (see pic)

Many fish have UV vision, which advantageously extends their range of vision. With UV vision, fish can also see other prey that are transparent in visible light.

How does Fish Vision(tm) differ from a glow paint or powder paint?

Fish Vision UV paint is a liquid you can apply with a brush, spray it on or even dip your lure or jig. Glow paints are made to glow to a human and the glow is not seen in the UV spectrum. (see UV jig pic)

How deep of water can Fish Vision UV Lure and Jig paints be used and effective?
UV light penetrates water far deeper than humans can see. Oceanographers have found UV light Penetrates the upper 200 meters of the ocean.

Is there better times of the day Fish Vision UV paints works better?
We have found Fish Vision UV lure and jig paints work well in dark murky waters, mud bottom lakes and rivers, ice fishing as well as clear lakes, oceans and night fishing!

How many jig or lures can I paint with a container of Fish Vision?
Each 2oz container will do approximately 60+ jigs or 30+ lures.

How long will a container of Fish Vision last?
A container of Fish Vision UV lure and jig paint can last for approx 12-18 months if stored at room temperature and in its original sealed container. Do not store near any heat source.

What if Fish Vision freezes or becomes thick or clumpy over time?
Fish Vision UV lure and jig paints are designed to withstand freezing. If your Fish Vision freezes, allow it to thaw to room temperature if your paint seems thick or clumpy, just put it in the microwave (with the cover on it) for 7-10 seconds and shake well.(if needed you may add a few drops of water).

What do I need to do to spray my jigs or lures?
Fish Vision will need to be thinned in order to use a spray applicator. Thinning is done by heating the product (with the cover on and in the original container) in the microwave for 7-10 seconds (less time if its not a full container). If needed you may add a few drops of water. Apply product while warm.
